Indore (Madhya Pradesh): An FIR has been registered against three for allegedly mistreating Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) Indore’s Vice Chancellor Rakesh Singhai during an ongoing staff protest at the university campus.
The incident took place on May 17, 2025, around 3:30 pm. According to Singhai’s complaint, his official vehicle was surrounded by protestors, forcing him to get out of the car and walk to the gate.
Following his complaint, Bhawarkuan police have registered an FIR against 3 individuals Deepak Solanki (President of the Self-Financed Employees Union), Sohel Parvez (Union Secretary), and former Congress leader Ajay Chouradiya.
The 3 have been booked under sections 221, 126, 296, and 351 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for allegedly obstructing government work, threatening behavior, and misbehavior with the Vice-Chancellor.
The self-financed employees of DAVV have been on strike for the past 25 days, demanding various changes. During one of the protests, the Vice-Chancellor's car was blocked, leading to this confrontation.
VC Singhai mentioned that the protestors not only stopped his car but also tried to intimidate him, which he considers a direct interference with his official duties and a serious insult to the position of the Vice-Chancellor.
