Sehore (Madhya Pradesh): Two women died and atleast 15 people were injured during a stampede at Pandit Pradeep Mishra’s Kubereshwar Dham in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore on Tuesday.
The incident happened as a huge crowd of people gathered at Kubereshwar Dham for ‘Rudraksh’ distribution event.
Lakhs of people from across western and central states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh reached here for Kanwar Yatra and Rudraksh distribution in ongoing holy Shravana month.
Sudden crowd leads to stampede
According to the preliminary information, the health of some devotees deteriorated due to increasing crowds and heat-humidity in the Kubeshwar Dham premises on Tuesday afternoon. The sudden surge in the crowd led to a stampede.
Amid the chaos, two women started feeling restless and then fell unconscious. They were immediately taken to the district hospital in Sehore, where the doctors declared both of them dead. Their identities have not been confirmed yet.
Though the official announcement of this incident has not been made yet. Ground reports confirm several other devotees complained about problems like restlessness and dizziness due to heat and the crowd. They, too, visited the district hospital for first aid.
Bhopal-Indore highway jammed
Notably, a flood of devotees flocked to Kubereshwar Dham for the grand Kanwar Yatra to be led by Pandit Pradeep Mishra on August 6. Thousands of vehicles are on their way to the dham, leading to a heavy jam on the Indore-Bhopal Highway.
