UP Hit-And-Run: Police Jeep Speeding In Wrong Direction Hits Boy Crossing Road In Kanpur; CCTV VIDEO Surfaces

A distressing hit-and-run video from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has gone viral on social media, sparking serious concerns about road safety. The CCTV footage, widely shared online, shows a speeding vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on a seemingly quiet highway, striking a young boy who was crossing the road.

The vehicle, after hitting the boy, sped away from the scene without stopping. A group of friends who witnessed the incident immediately rushed the injured boy to the hospital. However, there are no updates yet on the victim's condition.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV footage. As the video gained traction online, netizens demanded action from the authorities. Some social media users alleged that the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run was a police jeep. As of now no arrests have been made by Kanpur police

Police Appeal to Kanpur Residents

The Kanpur Traffic Police reiterated their appeal to residents to avoid driving in the wrong direction, emphasizing the severe consequences of such actions. Violators will face strict legal action to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.

"Driving in the wrong direction is a serious safety hazard. Necessary legal measures will be enforced against those who violate traffic rules," said Shri Shikhar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic West, Central/Panki.

Second Hit-and-Run in a Month

This incident marks the second hit-and-run reported in Kanpur within a month.

On September 21, an elderly couple was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident outside the Anandeshwar Shiv Temple. The accident occurred early morning when a driver, reportedly leaving the temple, struck the couple who were sleeping near the temple premises.

Local residents stated that the accident happened just after dawn. Police officials confirmed that the bodies of the victims were sent for a post-mortem examination.
