New Delhi: An unattended bag was reportedly found at New Delhi railway station on Saturday. After receiving the information, a bomb dispose squad has been rushed to the spot.
Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said a fire tender was also sent to the spot. However, nothing suspicious has been found so far, they said.
As per a DFS official, a call was received at 7.55 am regarding an unattended bag lying at gate number 8 of the station.
"This raised suspicions and we rushed a fire tender to the site," the official said as reported by PTI
After the recovery of the unattended bad, panic gripped passengers at the railway station.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened at the station.
In February this year, a stampede at the New Delhi Railway Station that claimed the lives of 18 people. The tragedy occurred at 10 pm on February 15, as lakhs of devotees were heading to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh 2025 festival, causing significant overcrowding at the station. Reports indicated that around 1,500 general tickets were sold, leading to an overwhelming crowd. The situation worsened near platform no. 14 and the escalator at platform no. 1.
