For the first time in the history of Indian Railways, a grand All India Railway Public Relations Seminar was organized by the officials and staff of the Public Relations Department on Saturday at the Menal Railway Officers Club, Kota. Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and acknowledged the crucial role played by the Indian Railway Public Relations Cadre.

The event commenced with the traditional welcome of Birla with a bouquet, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp in the presence of the Divisional Railway Manager of Kota, Anil Kalra, along with other distinguished guests. In his welcome address, DRM Kalra appreciated the significant contributions being made by the Public Relations Department of Indian Railways. A short introductory video showcasing the multifaceted role of PR personnel was presented to familiarize the audience with the department’s responsibilities.
Insightful Presentation Highlights PR Cadre Challenges
Senior Public Relations Officer Kamal Joshi delivered a detailed presentation about the PR Cadre, highlighting the department’s current operational practices, responsibilities, and structural challenges. In his address, Om Birla stated, "The PR Department of Railways is a bridge of trust between the government and the people. Its strength enhances the image and transparency of the Railways." He further assured full support in addressing the cadre’s issues and ensuring that their concerns reach the appropriate authorities.
A memento was presented to the Chief Guest, followed by a formal vote of thanks.
Focus on Cadre Restructuring and Operational Efficiency
Post the inaugural session, a seminar session was conducted where Senior Public Relations Officers, Public Relations Officers, and Publicity Inspectors from across the country shared their insights, experiences, and practical suggestions regarding cadre-related concerns. This interactive session proved to be a milestone in defining the department’s future path, enhancing its efficiency, and laying a strong foundation for cadre restructuring.

The event saw the participation of DRM Kota Anil Kalra, ADRM Lalit Kumar Dhurandhar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Jain, Divisional Commercial Manager Kishore Patel, Leader of Opposition Love Sharma, and several senior officials from various railway departments, representatives of employees’ unions, and notable personalities from print, electronic, and social media.
