Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday thanked the people of Delhi for giving the BIP an opportunity to turn Delhi into a “developed” Capital. He noted his party is in power for the first time in history in the entire National Capital Region, which includes parts of Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, and that this has opened up possibilities for all-round development of the region.
A BJP government in Delhi, Modi S'Ud will “open numerous avenues for growth in mobility and infrastructure in the entire National Capital Region” and "the urbanization will provide an opportunity to empower —the poor and underprivileged”,
Still in electioneering mode, the PM said, "AAP-da promised to change politics but proved to be "kattar baimaan” (hardcore corrupt). Anna Hazare too has been rid of the pain of dealing with the deceit of AAP” He also had a word of caution for AAP and said: “Their CM and ministers went to jail. They would give certificates of corruption to others and stick badges of honesty to themselves, Yet they built the Sheesh Mahal when the country was dealing with Covid 19. In the first Assembly session, the CAG report will be tabled, every link of corruption will be investigated and whoever has looted Delhi will have to return the ill-gotten gains”
Modi said the mandate is also for ‘virasat’ (heritage) along with development and cleaning of the
Yamuna would be taken up, even though it may be a difficult and time-consuming process. “I have taken the vow of making the Yamuna the symbol of Delhi – this is a difficult job that would take time, but we will accomplish it.”
The PM said BJP would return the love Delhi has showered on it with interest through development. “We are here for ‘sewa’ (service) not ‘satta sukh’ (enjoying power),” he said, adding that the party will “run the double engine government at full speed” and “gives the guarantee of reform and perform”. He said by showing AAP-da the exit, people of Delhi have rid themselves of a decade of “disaster”. “Vikas (development), vision and ‘vishwas’ (trust) have won and ‘adambar’ (drama), ‘arajakta’ (anarchy) and ‘ahankar’ (arrogance) have lost,” he said.
The PM said the AAP’s politics of ‘anishchitta’ (uncertainty) and ‘takrar’ (dispute) was harming Delhi. “They stopped Metro work from progressing, stopped housing schemes for jhuggi dwellers and prevented the citizens from getting the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme.” “Governance is not a place for ‘nautanki, prachar aur prapanch’ (drama, promotion or deceit). We will stay rooted to the ground and work for the people of Delhi,” the PM assured. He added that all the promises made to the voters, including the grants and welfare schemes announced for women, will be fulfilled.
Noting that BJP and NDA governments have in all the states ruled by them delivered on promises and found solutions to problems like drought, Modi said in Delhi issues like broken roads, overflowing sewers, polluted air and mounds of garbage would be addressed.
