Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Union Home Minister Amit Shah traded barbs in the Lok Sabha whilst the latter was addressing the house during a debate on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack on Tuesday.
A clip of the heated exchange inside Parliament has gone viral on social media.
When Amit Shah was praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for successfully carrying out Operation Sindoor, under which the armed forces destroyed terrorist infrastructure through cross-border strikes inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, he claimed the Army and CRPF had neutralised the "Aaka" (Master) of terrorists.
At this point, the Kannauj MP intervened and reportedly said, "Aaka toh Pakistan mein hain" (The master is in Pakistan).
Amit Shah replied, saying, "Pakistan se aapki baat hoti hai kya" (Are you in touch with Pakistan?).
Amit Shah's response resulted in uproar from Samajwadi Party MPs, who rose from their seats and objected to his remarks.
The commotion momentarily caused Shah to stop his speech. Amit Shah then continued with his speech, claiming he had full details of the terrorists killed in Pakistan, including their names, the locations where they were eliminated, and even the time they were attacked.
Launching a scathing attack on the Opposition, Shah further said, "I thought that after hearing this news, there would be a wave of happiness in both the ruling and Opposition parties. 'Magar Syaahi padd gayi inke chehre pe' (Their faces are smeared with ink)... What kind of politics is this? You are not happy about the killing of terrorists?"
Akhilesh Yadav made a comment in response. This time, Amit Shah took a potshot at the SP chief, saying, "Bhai aap aatankwadiyon ka dharm dekh kar dukhi mat hoiye" (Brother, don't be upset by looking at the religion of terrorists).
