Kolkata: A day after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that a Bengali speaking woman and her child were badly beaten by Delhi police, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari claimed that the West Bengal Chief Minister had allegedly ‘misled’ people by sharing ‘fake’ videos on social media.

“No one is above the law. Mamata Banerjee should be booked under BNS for spreading misinformation. Despite requests from Delhi police, she didn’t remove the fake videos from her social media. I have called Contai Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Soumendu Adhikari and have asked him to lodge a complaint against Mamata Banerjee under cyber crime,” said the Leader of Opposition.

Addressing the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Delhi) Abhishek Dhania said that following the post done by West Bengal Chief Minister, Delhi police and formed multiple teams for the investigation and also mentioned that after investigation it was seen that the claim by the lady that she and her child were beaten by police are ‘baseless’.

“During the interrogation, she mentioned that her relative, who lives in the Malda district of West Bengal, is a political worker, and on his request, she made this baseless video and shared it with him which was later shared in local media,” added Dhania.

Notably, earlier this day, LoP Suvendu Adhikari had written a letter to the Election Commission alleging that the Chief Minister is trying to ‘intimidate’ BLOs.

“In her recent remarks, Smt. Mamata Banerjee expressed displeasure over the training of approximately one thousand BLOs in Delhi, alleging that neither she nor the Chief Secretary were informed about this initiative. She further reminded BLOs that they are employees of the State Government, implying that their allegiance lies with the State Administration rather than the ECI during the pre-election and post-election periods,” read the letter.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had once again on Tuesday criticised BJP for allegedly harassing Bengali speaking people and urged all the migrant workers to return back to Bengal.
