Ludhiana: The decomposed body of a man was found inside a blue drum in Punjab's Ludhiana on Friday. The body was reportedly wrapped in a plastic sack. The incident appeared similar to the infamous Meerut blue drum murder incident.
According to a report by India Today, the deceased's neck and legs were tied with a rope. The police are suspecting a foul play in the case. The entire matter surfaced after a foul smell started emitting from the area, after which locals informed the police.
The man appeared to be a migrant, Station House Officer (SHO) Kulwant Kaur told India Today TV. There were no injury marks found on the body of the deceased. "The deceased looks like a migrant based on facial features. There are no injury marks on the body as of now, though its condition is bad. The post-mortem will reveal the exact cause and circumstances of death," she said as reported by the media house.
The body has been sent for postmortem. According to the report, the drum in which the dead body was found appeared to be freshly purchased, hinting towards the possibility of a murder. The police have reportedly compiled a list of 42 drum manufacturing units in the city.

Cops are scanning the CCTV footage of all the areas within a five-kilometre radius where the body was found. The police are questioning the locals to get a clue about the murderer.
In March this year, a shocking incident surfaced where a former merchant navy officer, named Saurabh Rajput, was allegedly murdered by his wife and her boyfriend in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut. Rajput was allegedly murdered on March 4 in Meerut and the matter surfaced on March 18. Rajput’s wife and her boyfriend allegedly chopped his body into pieces and put them into a blue-coloured drum in Meerut.
