Chandigarh: Mobile internet service was restored in Nuh district of Haryana on Monday , two weeks after it was suspended following communal clashes that claimed six lives and led to massive damage to public and private properties.
Meanwhile, the curfew was also relaxed further for 14 hours – from 6 am to 8 pm since Sunday, though it was steadily relaxed earlier for a few hours last week.
The mobile internet services had remained suspended since July 31 last till August 8 though the suspension was subsequently extended till August 13.
However, heavy police bandobast still continued with an aim to avert any untoward incidents and the prohibitory orders against assembly of four or more persons were still in force there under Section 144 CrPC.

Nuh communal clashes
It may be recalled that communal clashes had erupted in Nuh on July 31 last after a religious procession taken out by Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal was attacked by mobs in Muslim-dominated Nuh town following which the same had spilled over to the adjoining areas including Gurugram.
The six people killed in the communal clashes included two Home Guards and a naib imam and three youths. Dozens of other people including police personnel were also grievously hurt during the clashes.
Future Plans and Demands
Meanwhile, several Hindu outfits, including VHP which held Maha panchayat in Palwal on Sunday, have announced to resume the same "Yatra" from Nuh on August 28 and demanded that the investigation into the Nuh violence be handed over to the national investigation agency (NIA), Rs 1 crore relief and a government job to the families of the deceased, Rs 50 lakh to injured.
Surprisingly enough, among their other demands, some of the leaders of different groups also sought from the government to relax gun licences for Hindus for self-defence.
