Delhi Rains: Heavy Showers Lash National Capital & Adjoining Area; Waterlogging, Long Traffic Jams Reported - VIDEOS

Severe waterlogging has been reported in several areas of Delhi as heavy rains lashed the national capital on Thursday.

New Delhi: Heavy rains again lashed Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) in the early hours of Thursday, August 14. Severe waterlogging has been reported in several areas of the national capital territory, leading to traffic jams.

Areas including Lajpat Nagar, RK Puram, Lodhi Road, and the Delhi-Haryana border witnessed heavy showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light to moderate rains with thunderstorms and lightning on Thursday. Visuals of waterlogging in the national capital also surfaced online.

"Light to moderate rainfall at most places with moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated places over Delhi and NCR during next 2-3 hours," the IMD said in its weather bulletin on Thursday morning.

Maximum temperatures are likely to remain between 32 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius, reported The Business Standard. Meanwhile, there are no reports of any flight cancellations or delays due to the rainfall so far.

The weather agency has predicted light to moderate showers from August 15 afternoon. Meanwhile, intermittent rainfall is likely over the weekend.

The IMD has also issued an orange alert for several northern districts of Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rainfall warning has been issued in districts, including Pilibhit, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur and Bahraich.

Heavy rains are also likely in the hill states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh as the monsoon activity has strengthened across northern India.

Earlier, heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Delhi on Tuesday. Areas including Minto Bridge, Vijay Chowk, Moti Bagh flyover, Rafi Marg, and Nizamuddin flyover witnessed intense showers.
