In a shocking incident, a Bengaluru businessman had to undergo surgery costing around ₹2 lakh after a man bit his index finger during a road rage altercation. The victim has been identified as Jayant Shekar, whose wife has filed a police complaint against the fellow driver. The accused allegedly assaulted Shekar and bit his finger after rainwater was inadvertently splashed onto his vehicle.

At the time of publishing this report, the accused had not been arrested.

On Sunday evening, Shekar, a resident of Magadi Road, was returning home with his wife, Parvathi, and mother-in-law after dinner. Around 9 pm, while waiting at a traffic light near the Lulu Mall underpass, he accidentally sprayed rainwater onto another car while making a turn. This minor incident led to an alleged attack and intimidation.

"After passing through the signal, I saw an i20 pulling up beside my vehicle. A female passenger began shouting at me while the male driver demanded that I pull over," Shekar told NDTV.

Shekhar explained that since it was raining, he did not come out of the car. However, soon the couple blocked their path and began hurling abuses at him.

The heated exchange turned violent when the man grabbed Shekhar's hand and bit his ring finger, causing severe injury that required surgery.

He said that he had no clue that water had splashed onto their car as it was drizzling at that time.

Police are investigating the incident and suspect that both parties may have been involved in a physical altercation, though no counter-complaints have been filed by the accused.
