Five bike-borne assailants shot an auto-rickshaw driver near the Kerakat police station area in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur district.
The incident took place when the victim, a young man, was returning home in his auto. Suddenly, five criminals surrounded him and fired at him with the intent to kill. The bullet struck the youth in the shoulder, leaving him critically injured and covered in blood. With the help of locals, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition is now reported to be stable.
The most shocking aspect is that this entire incident took place barely 200 metres from the police station premises, making it clear that criminals no longer fear the law or the police. Officers arrived at the scene shortly after the attack and have launched an investigation.
Panic spread in the area as news of the incident broke. Locals claim that criminal activity has been on the rise in this region for some time, but the police have failed to take concrete action. It was only after this daring shooting right next to the police station that authorities finally sprang into action.
Police officials stated that an investigation is underway, and teams have been formed to identify and arrest the attackers. Some clues have been gathered from the crime scene, based on which further action is being taken.
