As excitement builds for the IPL 2025 final, filmmaker SS Rajamouli shared a heartfelt note about two of Indian cricket's most talked-about stars - Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli. On June 2, Iyer's Punjab Kings beat Mumbai Indian to secure a spot in the finals. They will now compete with Kohli's Royal Challengers Bengaluru on June 3.
Taking to his official X account on Monday, the RRR director reacted to PBKS' win over MI. He praised Iyer's composed batting and leadership.
"Iyer guiding Bumrah's and Boult's yorkers to the third man boundary… Exquisite… This man leads Delhi to a final… and is dropped… Leads Kolkata to a trophy… dropped… Leads a young Punjab to the finals after 11 years. He deserves this year's trophy too," Rajamouli wrote along with a picture of Kohli and Iyer.

Turning his attention to RCB's talisman, he added, "On the other hand, it is Kohli… who is performing year on year… compiling thousands of runs. The final frontier for him… He deserves it too. Whatever the result… it's going to be a heartbreak."
Soon after Rajamouli shared the post, several X users said they felt the same and thanked him for sharing the thought.
"Yes sir… exactly same feeling… It’s going to be a tough match to watch as a cricket fan," wrote a user.
Another commented, "True, Sir. Whatever the result… it’s going to be heartbreaking."
"Dil ki baat. May be this time #Kohli. Next time #Iyer," read another comment under Rajamouli's post.
Iyer's inspiring journey, from facing rejections to guiding three different franchises to success, has earned him admiration across the cricketing world.
It may be mentioned that Kohli, who is yet to lift the IPL trophy despite stellar individual performances year after year, has entered the final with hopes of finally ending RCB's title drought.
