Faruk Kabir, who is known for making movies like Allah Ke Banday and the Khuda Haafiz franchise, has directed Jio Hotstar's new series Salakaar. The web series stars Naveen Kasturia and Mouni Roy in the lead roles, and it has started streaming today (August 8, 2025). A lot of people have already watched it and they have shared their review on X (Twitter).

While netizens have given a mixed response to Salakaar, everyone is praising Mouni. A netizen tweeted, "Watched #Salakaar Honestly. It's good. Acting of every actor is commendable. Story is above average. It's fiction. But, good. Arc comes to an end in the end. Satisfying to say the least. What's bad are the inconsistencies. Too many plot holes. Could have been better (sic)."

Another X user wrote, "#Salakaar gave us many great moments, but #MouniRoy’s arc as #Mariam left the deepest impression. What a revelation (sic)."

One more netizen tweeted, "Director #FarukKabir, known for his intense storytelling and strong character work, is set to present his series #Salakaar. Its more on ajit doval's work in pakistan and @Roymouni plays a good role (sic)." Check out the tweets below...

Mouni Roy On Playing The Role Of A Spy In Salakaar

Mouni plays the role of a Spy in the series. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, while talking about her role, the actress said, "The image of a spy in popular culture is commonly associated with a man. In fact, female spies are often labelled as ‘honey traps’. In the show, Mariam is an undercover agent married to a Pakistani general. Her track begins in a domestic context but, as the show progresses, her spectrum of activity widens."

"I am doing a lot in the show, including action. In fact, the character may or may not be rooted in a little bit of reality and history. It’s a wholesome role, and an equally patriotic one as the male counterparts," she added.
