In a rare moment, influencer-turned-actress Prajakta Koli got emotional recalling her tough childhood when her parents had to break her piggy bank as they did not have the money to run the house a particular month. Prajakta shared how she was 12 when her father lost Rs 11 lakh and the family was left to fend for themselves.
During her appearance on Yuvaa's podcast with her father Manoj Koli, Prajakta shared, "I remember when I was 12 years old, I came back from school or tuition. Mumma, papa made me sit with love, I remember the time because I almost felt like I was an adult, the way they spoke to me. They said, 'Aabu, we are struggling a little bit this month. So we'll have to break your piggy bank'. I was like, 'Ok'. They were like, 'It's ok, we will get you a new one'."
Prajakta then broke down and stated that while the incident felt completely "normal" back then, she realised its gravitas much later and it is an emotional memory now.
The actress' father Manoj then shared how he was working in a multi-level marketing company back in 1999-2000, when he lost all his savings. "There was a new trend in India at that time. I put a lot of money into that company, near about ₹11 lakh, all my savings and the company went bankrupt," he shared.
He went on to say that he took up odd jobs and even drove a taxi to atleast earn the monthly expenses of the household. "I tried my level best to get help from relatives and friends but didn't get it. My last option was to break your piggy bank, and that amount helped us with the expenses for that month," he said.
"I can proudly say today that Prajakta's support and help to manage our family started from then," he added, leaving the actress teary-eyed.
Prajakta started off as an RJ in Mumbai before becoming one of the biggest Youtubers of India with her channel, MostlySane. In 2020, she starred in the short film, Khayali Pulao, and in the same year, she marked her OTT debut with Mismatched, which so far has three successful seasons.
In 2022, Prajakta marked her Bollywood debut with Jugjugg Jeeyo. She later also shared the screen with Vidya Balan in Neeyat.
