A massive fire broke out on the main stage of Tomorrowland, one of the world's biggest electronic music festivals, just one day before the event was set to begin. The incident occurred at the festival grounds in Boom, Belgium, where the annual event draws hundreds of thousands of music lovers from across the globe.
Several photos and videos circulating on social media show thick plumes of smoke billowing from the main stage area, which appears to have been severely damaged by the blaze. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and officials have not yet confirmed whether any injuries occurred.
Although no members of the public were present at the time of the incident, approximately 1,000 staff members were working on-site in preparation for the festival's opening day on Friday, according to a report in The Sun.
Authorities have reportedly urged nearby residents to keep their windows and doors closed until the fire is completely brought under control, as a precautionary measure against smoke inhalation.
It is not known if the festival will be cancelled or postponed. Official statement from the authorities is awaited.
Emergency services remain on the scene as investigations continue. Updates on the fire’s impact on the festival schedule are also awaited.
