Actress Lara Dutta penned a heartfelt note for her close friend of 25 years, Deanna Panday, after watching her son Ahaan Panday’s debut Bollywood film Saiyaara. The movie, also starring Aneet Padda in the lead, has taken the box office by storm, earning an estimated ₹314.10 crore domestically and becoming the highest-grossing love story in Indian cinema. In her note, Lara reflected on how Deanne had stood by her through every phase of life, from relationships and breakups to marriage, and even during the heartbreaking loss of her father, Wing Commander L.K. Dutta (retd), who passed away earlier this year.

Sharing throwback photos with Deanne and Ahaan, Lara took to her Instagram handle on Sunday (August 10) and wrote, "I went to watch her son Ahaan’s movie (Saiyaara) yesterday… Have known Ahaan since he was a toddler, and it’s been a pleasure to watch him grow into the thoughtful, well-brought-up, charming boy he is. Furthermore, Lara added, "DP (as I call her) has been more than a friend for over 25 years….. she was there when I first moved to Mumbai as a teenager and knew no one, and she and her family made me feel like I had friends who would look out for me…. She was there when I won Miss India and Miss Universe , and kept me grounded and focused on my fitness and mental well being….. she’s been there through relationships and breakups and my wedding and the birth of my daughter, and more recently the loss of a parent…… she’s just been there, quietly, solidly…. With compassion and bravery and love….."
Lara mentioned how she has seen Deanne work tirelessly for her family and friends, even when she was mentally and physically exhausted, and how she always shows up, every single time, for the people she loves. Quietly slipping in to take care of whatever needs to be done, Deanne has never asked for anything in return.
"I am so thrilled and proud of what your kids have accomplished and I know how hard you’ve worked and how hard you’ve prayed for their well being and success," wrote Lara.
