Banita Sandhu, who had made her Hindi film debut with the movie October, will next be seen in Zee5's movie Detective Sherdil which stars Diljit Dosanjh in the titular role. During an interview, the actress revealed that there was a time when producers made her work for 16-18 hours. So, she decided to speak up against it, and that particular film industry has maybe blacklisted her.
While talking to the Indian Express, she revealed, “With Hindi cinema, it is getting better now. But early in my career, when I really didn’t understand how industries work, I just assumed this was the way to work. I did 16-18 hours a day shifts, where producers aligned my schedule, I would shoot the whole day and then fly at night."
"I didn’t sleep for 24 hours straight. I stood up for myself and the crew. I told the producers that this is not okay. Maybe, I am blacklisted from that industry now, but I don’t care. I just believe in standing up for what’s right," the actress added.
Banita, who has also worked in the West, stated that there they have strong unions. She added, "They really protect actors and crew."
After making her debut with October, Banita was seen in the Tamil film Adithya Varma, which was a remake of Telugu movie Arjun Reddy. In Hindi, she only did Sardar Udham, and now, gearing up for the release of Detective Sherdil. The actress has also done a few international movies and series, and one of them is Bridgerton. She was seen in a small role in season three of the Netflix's show.
