Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai on Wednesday after he suffered a leg injury while he was mobbed by his fans at the airport. The actor had just returned from New Delhi, where he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan by President Droupadi Murmu.

According to a report in India Today, a member of Ajith’s team said that the mishap took place when he was mobbed by a large crowd at the Chennai airport on Tuesday. He had flown back from the capital along with his family after receiving the national honour.

"Ajith Kumar sir suffered a small injury in his leg when he was mobbed by a huge crowd at the Chennai airport. Hence, he had to be admitted for physiotherapy. The actor is likely to be discharged this evening. There's nothing to worry about his health," the source reportedly said.

On April 28, Ajith Kumar received the Padma Bhushan from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi, and stated that he was overwhelmed with emotions. "It still hasn’t sunk in. I’m still a plain middle class person at heart, and it feels so surreal to be here and experiencing all these emotions," he said.

He added that in moments like these, he feels reassured that he has been doing the "right thing" all these years.

On the work front, Ajith was last seen in the Tamil film, Good Bad Ugly, which ended up being a hit at the box office. The film, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, released in theatres on April 10, and it went on to earn over Rs 150 crore at the Indian box office, despite having limited screens in the central and northern belts.

Besides acting, Ajith has also been in news for his racing triumphs. His racing team recently came second in the Belgium 12H event. He is now expected to travel to Europe soon to take part in more international racing events.
