Trump Organisation’s entry into the mobile phone business has received multiple reactions across the globe. The T1 Phone is raising eyebrows for its ‘Made In America’ claims and the design seems to be a rushed mashup of an Android phone and the iPhone. Nothing CEO Carl Pei took to Twitter to offer his two cents on the new T1 Phone. He made a tongue-in-cheek remark about how the upcoming Nothing Phone 3 ‘now has competition’.
Pei took to Twitter to share an image of the T1 Phone and retorted, “We’re cooked.” He added, “Nothing Phone 3 has competition now. This phone — it’s unbelievable. Fast, beautiful, does everything. People are switching — they’re tired of the junk. It’s a total winner. Everyone loves it.” Netizens are calling the T1 Phone a ‘cheap iPhone copy rebrand’, and ‘an Android phone pretending to be an iPhone’. The Verge claims that the ‘T1 Phone looks both bad and impossible’.
The T1 Phone is looking to further Trump’s push for ‘Make in America’ and urge tech brand to do the same. Trump Mobile was unveiled by Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump at Trump Tower in New York. The phone was unveiled on the 10-year anniversary of Trump’s presidential campaign launch in 2016. Apart from the phone, Trump Mobile also introduced a new 47 Plan that offers unlimited text, data, and calling for $47.45 per month.
The T1 Phone features a 6.8-inch AMOLED display, 50-megapixel rear camera, 5,000mAh battery, and 256GB expandable storage. The phone is said to go on sale in August.
Nothing Phone 3, on the other hand, is the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone that is slated to launch on July 1. Flipkart has already started teasing its arrival in the Indian market.
