US President Donald Trump and his family are getting into the mobile phone business with Trump Mobile. The company has announced the new ‘T1 Phone’ and the ‘47 Plan’ mobile network service as part of its first offering. It will offer 5G service through all three major cellular carriers - Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. The T1 Phone is priced at $499 (approx. Rs. 43,000) and its features include a 6.8-inch display and a 5,000mAh battery. The 47 Plan offers unlimited calls and data at $47.45 (approx Rs. 4,000) per month. The T1 Phone is likely to go on sale in August and pre-orders have already begun.
This foray into the mobile space comes at a time when Donald Trump's team is on a MAGA campaign offensive and is pushing for 'Made in America'.
T1 Phone price and availability
Trump Mobile’s new T1 Phone is priced at $499 (approx. Rs. 43,000) in the US. The phone is slated to be available in August. Trump Mobile is taking pre-orders for the phone on its website with a $100 (approx. Rs. 8,600) deposit. The smartphone is listed in a Gold variant and a few specifications have been listed.
The T1 Phone is an amalgamation of Android and iPhone with a punch-hole display up front and an Apple-like camera setup at the back. The smartphone is listed to run on Android 15 and feature a 6.8-inch AMOLED display. It will pack 12GB RAM and 256GB storage that can be further expanded using a card slot. The T1 phone will have an in-screen fingerprint sensor and AI Face Unlock support as well. The triple rear camera setup at the back will have a 50-megapixel main sensor and two 2-megapixel depth and macro lenses. The selfie camera setup will be at 16-megapixel.
T1 Phone will pack a 5,000mAh battery with 20W PD Fast Charging. Connectivity options will include a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The 47 Plan features
The 47 Plan is said to provide unlimited talktime, data, and texts for $47.45 (approx. Rs. 4,000). The data caveat is that the first 20GB will be at high speed after which the speed will be throttled. Other features include international calling, device protection, roadside assistance, and telehealth and pharmacy benefits. This wireless service will be bundled with the T1 Phone, but users can take it for their own smartphones as well. Compatibility with the wireless service can be checked here.
