Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In Madhya Pradesh’s Narsinghpur district, farmers from the Kisan Mazdoor Sangh staged a unique protest at the Gadarwara Tehsil office on Wednesday.
Half-naked and crawling on their knees, the farmers gathered in large numbers to demand action on several issues, including the purchase of summer moong crops at support prices.
They submitted a memorandum addressed to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Narsinghpur in-charge Minister Govind Singh Rajput, and Education & Transport Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh.
The memorandum was handed over to the SDM.

The memorandum included a list of demands which reads as follows:
Moong Procurement: The state government should start purchasing summer moong crops at support price, just like last year.
Pending Sugarcane Payments: Farmers should receive ₹20 per quintal pending payment from Shakti Sugar Mill, Korea.
Revenue Department Irregularities: Immediate action should be taken to resolve issues in the revenue department.
Compensation for Crop Damage: Farmers should be compensated for crop damage caused by wild animals like deer and wild boars.
Electricity Bill Hike: The increased electricity bills for farm pumps should be withdrawn.
Excess Weighing in Mandis: In the mandis, 700 grams of extra weight is being taken per quintal of grain—this should stop.
NTPC Dust Pollution: Dust from NTPC’s coal washing is causing major problems for local farmers - this should be addressed.
The farmers say if their demands are not met soon, the protests will intensify.
