Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Anywhere you look in the city, there are loose wires. Be they WiFi, TV cables, or electricity wires, they’re either hanging overhead or spread on the roads, posing traffic problems in many areas.
To fix the problem, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) puts the ball squarely in the court of the Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPMKVVCL).
The menace is evident not just on the streets, but even on the main roads. In colonies such as Shakti Nagar, Saket Nagar, Trilanga, and Gulmohar, loose wiring on the roadside or the middle of the road is a common sight. Residents claim to have complained to the BMC multiple times, but nothing has been done yet.
However, BMC’s electricity in-charge, Sushil Shrivastava, said, “It is the jurisdiction of the MPEB team. On our part, we move the wiring from the middle of the road to the side. But ultimately, the MPEB should crack the whip on the cable teams that leave wiring all over the place.”
Vishvas Kelkar, GM, TT Nagar, MPMKVVCL, said, “Our team removed wiring from the roadside in Shyamla Hills and TT Nagar. This is not a zone-specific problem but that of the whole of state capital. We will look into the matter. We will convey the message to all the zones and circles to take action. It is the WiFi installation teams that create such a nuisance. This isdangerous for the traffic.”
