Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A group of masked thieves targeted a bullion trader's residence-cum-shop and looted 100 grams gold worth Rs 30 lakh, 20 kg silver and ₹75,000 cash in Seoni district on Thursday night.
The incident was reported in Dhuma market area of Seoni. Dhuma and Lakhnadon police have started investigating the theft of about ₹30 lakh.
This incident occurred between 2 and 4 am on the night of 18 June (Thursday) Dhuma market area of Seoni. The thieves broke the back door of the house and made way into the shop located in the front.
The miscreants cut the locks of four doors and channel gates and used the hammer and hoe kept in the house to break the door.
In this case, Lakhnadon SDOP said that detailed information about how many kilograms of silver jewellery the unknown thieves have stolen from the bullion shop is being taken from the bullion trader.
During the incident, the thieves also tried to break the locker of the shop, but could not succeed. The shop used to mortgage gold and silver jewellery.
According to the trader, the thieves have stolen ₹75,000 cash along with various types of silver and gold jewellery kept outside the shop's locker.
The thieves entered the house by climbing the wall
According to the preliminary investigation, there is vacant land in the rear part of the newly constructed house and shop of Sanjay Jewellers located at some distance from the police station in the main Dhuma Bazaar area.
It is likely that the thieves parked the bike vehicle far away and reached the bullion trader's house through a dirt road. Footprints have also been found of climbing the boundary wall of the house. The thieves escaped from the same route with the stolen gold, silver and cash.
Theft of ₹30 lakh, case of ₹5 lakh
Dhuma police station in-charge said that “on the basis of the bills presented by bullion trader Sanjay Chaukse, the police have registered a case of theft of silver and gold jewellery worth ₹4 lakh and cash worth ₹75 thousand and the police have taken the matter under investigation. If the trader presents other bills and documents, it will be included in the case.”
Meanwhile, bullion trader Sanjay Chaukse's uncle and Congress leader Hira Chaukse said that unknown thieves have committed a theft of about ₹30 lakh. The thieves took away 20 kg silver jewellery, 100 grams gold jewellery and ₹75 thousand cash.
