Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Out of eight elevated Metro stations, construction at three remains far from completion, with little time left before the roll-out of metro trains for commercial operations. MP Metro Rail Corporation officials are working in double shifts to ensure these pending works are finished.
An official said the stations at Alkapuri, AIIMS, and near the DRM office are still under construction. “System rooms, equipment rooms and finishing works such as flooring are yet to be completed.
The Metro team is working in double shifts to wrap the pending work before the arrival of the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS),” the official said.
Officials are currently focusing on entry and exit points of the three stations and also public safety requirements. The commercial operation of Metro trains is expected to start in October.
The metro train is scheduled to run between Rani Kamlapati Railway station and AIIMS covering eight stations.
To operate the Metro train commercially, clearances are needed from Research Design and Standards Organisation, Lucknow and CMRS. The team of chad already done an inspection of the Metro train and its report is awaited.
CMRS team is expected to visit the city either by month end or in September for the evaluation of the entire Metro project.
Already multiple successful trials of Metro trains have been conducted and still being run. The metro train of Bhopal is designed to run up to the speed of 90 km per hour.
