Morena (Madhya Pradesh): A constable of the Special Armed Force (SAF) allegedly hanged himself in his barrack in Morena on Wednesday. The youth hanged himself by tying towel to iron wire used for drying clothes.
The deceased has been identified as Constable Ravindra Sharma posted in fifth battalion and joined the forces back in 2003.
The incident took place when no one else was present in the barrack. He was a resident of Baraida village in Dabra tehsil of Gwalior district.
Preliminary reports suggests that, Ravindra was troubled by alcohol addiction and has been battling the problem since long time. He had reportedly attempted suicide twice before. And due to his addiction of alcohol, he did not interact much with his family.
SAF Commandant Raghuvansh Singh Bhadauria said "Ravindra was counseled several times, but he did not give up alcohol. Due to this, he often remained absent from duty." Deputy Commandant Kamal Maurya added that Ravindra used to drink heavily out of frustration.
Morena SP Sameer Saurabh said "Ravindra was posted in the fifth battalion just a month ago. His mobile is locked, it will be opened after the family arrives. FSL team has investigated the spot." The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has examined the spot, and further investigation is underway.
