Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A shocking incident has come to light in Jabalpur, a city in Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, where a youth was brutally assaulted by a group of miscreants with sticks, as reported on Friday.
The attack took place in front of a paan shop at Tripuri Chowk in Baghraji area under Kundam police station limits. The assault was also filmed which later went viral on social media, sparking outrage.
According to information, the victim, Rohit Yadav, was at a paan shop chewing tobacco, when he was brutally attacked by half a dozen men, identified as Jitendra Patel alias Jittu, Yogesh Patel, Sonu Rajak, Vikas Jaiswal, and Pramod Patel.
The accused surrounded Yadav and allegedly struck him with sticks repetitively, till he fainted.

The accused filmed the complete attack and posted it on social media. Neitizens referred the attack as a 'Talibani Punishment' which indicated the brutality of the assault.
Later, Yadav along with his aide Satyam Burman, reached Kundam police station to lodge a formal complaint against all the accused and demanded strict action against them.
The complainant also alleged that the accused are habitual offender and has many criminal records. They further stated that this was not a sole incident, a man identified as Rahul Burman was also assaulted in the same manner by the same people few months back.
Satyam Burman stated, "We were chewing guthka at a pan shop when Jittu and his aides surrounded us from all sides, all of them had sticks in their hands. They started beating us without saying anything and one guy among them recorded the whole incident. They even threatened us that if we lodged a complaint , we would face more horrific consequences.”

Additional SP Suryakant Sharma assured a prompt investigation on this matter and said, "We understand the seriousness of this issue. The accused have been identified and several criminal cases are already registered against them. Soon all of them will be arrested and cases will be registered against them under strict sections."
Kundam police have been instructed to record the statements of the victims and take immediate action.
