Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 25-year-old man, allegedly a history-sheeter, hanged himself to death in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, as reported by police on Friday.
Identified as Shanni Nath, son of Radheshyam Nath, the deceased was a listed criminal with 25 cases registered against him at Ashoka Garden police station, the police informed.
However, the reasons behind him taking the extreme step remains unclear as no suicide note was recovered from the scene.

Family suspect mental stress
According to police, the incident occurred in Bhopal’s Semra Chauraha. The charges imposed on him included theft, assault, and disturbing public order.
Due to his criminal background, he was often taken in for questioning whenever any untoward incident occurred in the locality. As per the deceased's family, the frequent interrogations had become a cause of mental stress for him.
Was addicted to alcohol
Shanni’s younger brother, Sonu Nath, shared that Shanni was the third among five siblings. He had developed an addiction to alcohol, which frequently led to violent altercations at home. Family members stated that his changing behavior and growing frustration were noticeable in recent weeks.
On Friday afternoon, after the completion of post-mortem formalities, the body was handed over to the family for the last rites. The police have registered a case under in the matter and started an investigation to determine the exact cause behind the suicide.
A senior officer from Ashoka Garden police station confirmed, “No suicide note was found on or near the deceased. At this stage, we cannot conclude what drove him to take this step. We are speaking to his family, neighbours, and others who may provide insight into his mental state.”
