Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Here's news of the day! Madhya Pradesh Power Minister Pradhuman Singh Tomar took to the streets of Gwalior on Wednesday night….protesting over power outage! Well, that's not all he did.

Later at night, he suspended two power engineers who were sleeping peacefully instead of taking action.

Gwalior is scorching at 45°C at present, and at the same time the power cuts have become frequent in the city. The darkness also touched Minister Tomar’s locality after which he allegedly conducted an overnight inspection of the power distribution system.

To address the issue firsthand, Tomar walked through neighborhoods such as Transport Nagar, Moti Jheel, and Sikandar Kampoo, and called residents from zones like Tulsi Vihar, Padav, and Ramatapura to directly inquire about their electricity issues.

Many residents shared their frustration, stating that power cuts were causing immense difficulty, especially for children and the elderly.

Two suspended

While the residents were turning and tossing in the land of power drop and temperature rise, our minister caught not one, but two engineers…sleeping peacefully at home.

Consequences? They were suspended with immediate effect.

The minister then directed Chief General Manager of the Power Distribution Company, Nitin Manglik, to ensure improvement in the power supply system. He also assured the public that all complaints would be addressed promptly and that maintenance would be conducted without delay.

Speaking to the media, Minister Tomar said, “The vision of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and our government is to ensure uninterrupted power supply to all citizens. I will continue my night visits to monitor the situation and make sure people get relief.”

This time... its Air-Conditioner Anshan!

Later on, Tomar - already famous for making unusual vows - now promised not to use air conditioning throughout June. He said he will instead sleep in a waterproof tent with a fan in a public park to set an example for power conservation and environmental awareness.

He stated, “An air conditioner consumes several units of electricity and emits carbon dioxide (CO2), which harms our environment. I want to lead by example. I won’t drink chilled water from the refrigerator either – I’ll drink water stored in an earthen pot (Matka).”

Tomar has also committed to conducting foot marches twice a week during June to interact with the public about electricity issues and cleanliness in the city.

Tomar previously pledged to wear only un-ironed clothes to save electricity.
