Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Farhan Khan, the prime accused in the rape and blackmailing case had victimised seven girls including two minors, revealed police investigations. While, three of them have registered case against him at Bag Sewania, Ashoka Garden and Jehangirabad police stations, the rest are yet to come forward and register complaint against him. Police officials are in contact with the remaining victims and they were being counselled.
However, two of them are reluctant to take action against Farhan as they are going to get married soon, police officials said. It is worth mentioning that police have found over a dozen obscene videos of rape victims in Farhan’s mobile. He was seen with seven different girls in different videos and in one of them he is seen raping one of the minor victims and even hitting her.
Police approached all of them but till now only three have registered a case against him. It also came to the fore that not all of the victims were from the private college from where Farhan was pursuing BBA. Police officials maintained that the number of victims who have been raped and blackmailed by the group since 2017 may exceed following investigations. Moreover, the role of many other persons connected to the accused is under scanner.
INSET Farhan reached Indore to meet one of victims Farhan even reached Indore to meet one of the victims and forced her to open the door of her room. Farhan raped the girl and shot her videos. The victim approached Indore police but no action was taken on her complaint. The victim then reached Bhopal and made a complaint against Farhan on April 11 at Bag Sewania police station. However, he was arrested under section 151 of CrPC and was sent to jail.
On April 17, three FIRs were registered against him and the other accused on the complaint of victims and two cases were transferred to Jehangirabad and Ashoka Garden police stations.
Rs 10K reward declared on absconding accused
Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra declared a reward of Rs 10k each on the arrest of Abrar and Nabeel who are at large. Abrar hails from Kolkata while Nabeel belongs to Bihar. Both were students at the same college. Police Commissioner said that till now Farhan, Sahil Khan, Saad and Ali have been arrested. Their mobile phones have been sent to FSL for data analyses and recovery of lost videos.
The trial of the case will be conducted at the Fast Track Court and charge sheet will be filed within a month. Moreover, police will provide security to victims and witnesses of the case, the police commissioner added. Hamid hanged himself on December 23, 2024. At that time it came to light that he ended his life owing to financial loss in online betting. However, police probe will now include the angle of his involvement in rape and blackmailing racket behind his unnatural death.
NCW forms inquiry committee
Taking cognisance of the rape and blackmail case, National Commission for Women (NCW) has constituted an inquiry committee to probe into the sexual harassment of Hindu girls in Bhopal. The committee comprising of a former DGP of Jharkhand, secretary of NCW and a legal adviser of Jabalpur High Court will be on a visit to Bhopal for questioning in the case from May 3 to 5.
Another victim approaches cops
Late in the evening, another victim reached Bag Sewania police station. Police officials said the statement of the victim was being recorded following which further action would be taken. This will be the fifth FIR if a case is registered on her complaint.
