Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): Rainwater is seeping through the roof of the Harpalpur railway station, equipped with all modern facilities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the railway station on February 26 last year, which was revamped under the Amrit Bharart Station Scheme.
Passengers are fed up with the water logging in the ticket counter and the leakage through the station roof. The railway officers are trying to paper over the poor-quality construction by putting a black tarpaulin on the roof.
Nevertheless, a four-member probe team has confirmed the irregularities in the construction work following instructions from the DRM. The railway authorities have given two days to improve the work so that rainwater does not seep through the roof.
According to reports, the Harpalpur railway station comes under the Jhansi railway division. But because of the poor-quality construction, the roof has begun to leak within a year. After the heavy rain on Tuesday, the roof of the station began to leak, and the rainwater seeped through its walls, too.
There is water logging at the reservation counter and waiting room.
Inquiry exposes irregularities
After the passengers and other railway officials lodged complaints about the problems, the DRM ordered an inquiry into the irregularities.
A four-member technical team inspected the railway and its roof. During the inquiry, it came to light that there were some irregularities in joining the ceiling made of fibre sheets. Tarpaulins and tapes were put on the roof to cover up the leakages.
