Why so much rain?
Dr. Divya E. Surendran, senior scientist, said a low-pressure area has formed over Gujarat’s Saurashtra-Kutch region, which will affect MP in the next 1–2 days. A cyclonic circulation system is also active. Along with this, a trough (weather line) is passing through many areas of MP, causing heavy rainfall in those regions.
On Saturday, Satna’s Chitrakoot received heavy rainfall, while Sidhi saw over 1.2 inches of rain. Khajuraho and Naugaon in Chhatarpur also recorded more than half an inch of rain. Light rainfall was reported in Datia, Guna, Gwalior, Indore, Bhopal, Ratlam, Shivpuri, Ujjain, Balaghat, Burhanpur, Sehore, Barwani, Dindori, Shajapur, Agar-Malwa, and Dewas.
