Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The wait is over — monsoon has finally arrived in Madhya Pradesh, covering 19 districts so far. More rain is on the way, with Bhopal, Ujjain, and Jabalpur likely to see showers in the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, heavy rain is expected in five districts near Gujarat and Rajasthan borders on Wednesday.
These include Dhar, Jhabua, Ratlam, Neemuch, and Mandsaur.

June 18: Orange alert for heavy rain in Dhar, Jhabua, Ratlam, Neemuch, and Mandsaur. Light rain, strong winds, and thunder expected in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur.
June 19: Rain expected in most districts including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, Sagar, Rewa, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Narmadapuram, and Chambal divisions. Wind speed may reach 40–60 km/h.
June 20: Orange alert for very heavy rain in Damoh and Panna. Heavy rain expected in Gwalior, Jabalpur, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, and Katni. Rest of the state, including Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain, will see stormy and rainy weather.
June 21: Orange alert for very heavy rain in Damoh and Panna again. Heavy rain likely in Rajgarh, Vidisha, Ashoknagar, Tikamgarh, and Chhatarpur. Thunderstorm and rain will continue in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, and Gwalior.
The Meteorological Department has predicted rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms for almost the entire state, including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur.
So far, monsoon has reached many parts of the state. On Tuesday, two girls died in Singrauli after being struck by lightning. Rain was recorded in Bhopal, Rajgarh, Dhar, Ratlam, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Mandla, Satna, and Tikamgarh.
Due to the rain, day temperatures have come down. The highest temperature was 40°C in Shivpuri, while Pachmarhi recorded the lowest at 28.2°C. Among major cities, temperatures were: Bhopal - 34.4°C, Indore - 32.2°C, Gwalior - 38.5°C, Ujjain - 33°C, and Jabalpur - 34.5°C.
Dr Divya E. Surendran, a senior weather expert, said four weather systems are active right now. These include a low-pressure area over Gujarat and nearby regions, a cyclonic circulation, western disturbance, and a trough system.
Due to this, the weather will remain unstable in the state for the next four days, with chances of heavy rain in some districts. Some places may receive over 4 inches of rain in 24 hours.
