Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Jabalpur Municipal Corporation has approved proposals for naming certain lanes and installing statues of saints in various parts of the city.
The approval was given by Mayor-in-Council to proposals including road from Ratan Nagar Tiraha (LIC Office) to Kanha Lake View Supatal that will be named after Sri Satya Sai Marg.
The New Kanchanpur road, located in Dewan Adhar Singh Ward No. 61, extending from beside the Mahatma Gandhi State Rural Institute to Verma Atta Chakki, will be named Swatantrata Sangram Senani (Freedom Fighter) Late Mithai Lal Jaiswal Ji Marg. The road from in front of Kalchuri Hotel to Gopal Hotel leading up to the Indian Bank Square, will be named Yogendra Singh Yogi Ji Marg.
Additionally, the proposals were approved for the installation of statues: A statue of Lord Shri Sahastrabahu Ji Maharaj will be installed on the vacant platform located at Tilwara Ghat on the banks of Maa Narmada. A statue of Adya Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Ji will be installed near the entrance gate of Andhmook Bypass School.
Over developing paid parking spaces, Mayor instructed the officials to identify suitable and useful locations for paid parking in the city. These locations, which were previously earmarked, will undergo a thorough review.
Following this assessment, officials are to ensure the establishment of paid parking facilities in the approved areas.
In a significant decision, the proposal to allow guest teachers currently working in the five higher secondary schools operated by the Municipal Corporation to continue their teaching duties in the current academic session 2025-26, just as they did in the previous 2024-25 session, has been approved. This approval will directly benefit 45 guest teachers across these municipal schools.
