Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh): As many as 7 villages of Sheopur district have lost contact with district headquarters due to heavy rainfall. It has been raining continuously since last night in Karahal area of the district. Khirkhiri river has overflowed in the first rain itself.
Some villagers are crossing the overflowing river under compulsion. The district administration has increased surveillance in sensitive areas. Disaster management teams are on alert mode.
Due to river water coming on the culvert, Kariadeh, Bhaisarvan, Chakrarampura, Danti, Kheri, Kood and Padoda villages have lost contact with the main road.
The people are not able to go out of the village for important work. School children, elderly and sick people are facing the most problems. Traffic is completely closed due to the continuous rain. Due to this, three and a half thousand people are stranded.

Rain predicted in next 24 hours
The weather department has predicted light to moderate rain in the district in the next 24 hours. The district has received 21 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. Including this, 31 mm of rain has been received in the last two days and 57.84 mm of rain has been received in the month of June.
In the last 24 hours, 6.2 mm rain has been received in Sheopur, 7 in Baroda, 28.2 in Karahal, 29 in Vijaypur and 35 mm in Veerpur in the tehsil. Last year, 8.8 mm of rain had been received till now.
Karahal Tehsildar KK Sharma said that he will take stock of the situation. The District CEO has also been informed. Villagers have been appealed to remain alert. Administrative teams are being sent to the places where connectivity has been cut off. Disaster management teams are on alert mode.
