Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A petition against the new promotion policy filed in the high court has sent the government into a tizzy.

The court wanted to know from the government how the present promotion policy was different from the previous one. The General Administration Department (GAD) is preparing a reply.

The GAD is also preparing a comparative chart between the two promotion policies. The government will put up the chart to tell the court the differences between the two promotion policies.

The government has to tell the court how the policy of reservation in promotion, which the high court cancelled in 2016, can be included in the new promotion policy.

The government has provided a 20% quota for the ST category staff and 16% for the SC category in the new policy.  The HC wants to know the differences between the two policies.

Soon after the government prepared the policy, four departments held DPCs. Many other departments are getting ready to set up DPCs. Now, the decisions taken by the DPCs will not be implemented till the next order.

The new electoral officer has organised a DPC and ordered for promotions. But the doubts over promotion will be clear only after an order of the court.

Congress is behind the petition: CM

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the Congress was behind the petition filed by Samanya Picchdaa Evam Alpsankhyak Samaj (SAPAKS). The government made a new policy to start promotion after nine years, Yadav said.

The purpose is to recruit two lakh youths to the positions that will be vacant after the promotion of senior staff, he said. Many officers and employees have retired without promotion, he said, adding that the Congress is again preventing promotions.
