Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Meteorological Department has issued heavy rain alerts for several districts of Madhya Pradesh on Friday.
Three districts — Dewas, Khandwa, and Burhanpur — are under an orange alert for extremely heavy rain, with up to 8.5 inches of rainfall expected in the next 24 hours.

A yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for Indore, Ujjain, Khargone, Barwani, Dhar, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Ratlam, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Sehore, Harda, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Jabalpur, Balaghat, Mandla, and Dindori, where up to 4.5 inches of rainfall may occur.
Other districts, including Bhopal and Gwalior, may receive light rain with thunderstorms. The weather is expected to affect Independence Day programmes in some areas, and heavy rain is also likely on 17 August.

So far, the state has received 30.3 inches of rainfall, which is 82% of the annual quota of 37 inches. In total, Madhya Pradesh has seen 27% more rain than average this monsoon season. Scientists say that if heavy showers continue for two to three more days, the rainfall quota will be completed in many districts by the end of August.
Weather experts explained that the state is currently under the influence of a trough line, a monsoon trough, and three cyclonic circulation systems, along with a low-pressure area, which are causing widespread rain.
