Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): On the eve of Independence Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced the President's Distinguished Service Medal to 4 police officers of the state and Commendable Service Medal to 17 personnel, officials said on Thursday.

DGP Kailash Makwana has congratulated all the officers and personnel chosen for the honours.

The medals will be presented on the Independence Day programme - 15 August 2026.

The President's Distinguished Service Medal will be awarded to Additional Director General of Police Yogesh Deshmukh, ADG Rakesh Gupta, Constable Devendra Kumar Kaushal and Head Constable Walter Henry Ikka.

The 17 police personnel to get the Commendable Service Medal include Deputy Commissioner of Police Seema Alawa, DIG Dharmendra Singh Bhadoria, DIG Vijay Kumar Khatri, Assistant Inspector General of Police Ashish Khare, ASP Neeraj Pandey, ASP Rupesh Kumar Dwivedi, SP Rajesh Sahay, DSP Dinesh Kumar Singh, DSP Virendra Singh, Inspector Praveen Pawar, Inspector Kunjesh Srivastava, Manoj Kumar Dubey, Inspector Maneta Rai, DSP Alrij Vincent Singh, Assistant Sub Inspector Rajendra Kumar Dubey, Head Constable Kalyan Singh, Assistant Sub Inspector Ashok Rao Sawant.

66 police, jail, home guard Personnel to Get Awards Announced in 2024

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will present medals to 66 officers and personnel from the police, jail, and Home Guards departments at the state’s main Independence Day function today at Lal Parade Ground, Bhopal.

The awards, which were announced last year on the eve of Independence Day, include the President’s Distinguished Service Medal, Gallantry Medal, and Commendable Service Medal. They recognise commendable service, distinguished contributions, and acts of extraordinary bravery by officers of the Madhya Pradesh police, jail department, and Home Guards.

The officers who will be presented President's Distinguished Service Medal include ADG Chanchal Shekhar, IG Makrand Deuskar currently on deputation in BSF and retired IG Rajesh Hingankar. Arvind Kumar Saxena IG Gwalior, Himani Khanna IG Sagar, Ramadhar Bhardwaj, SP EOW Jabalpur (Retd), Veer Vikram Singh Sengar DSP Radio Ujjain, Nawab Khan DSP PHQ.

Besides, SPs of Morena, Dewas and Anuppur will be honoured with the Gallantry Medal of the Police Department.
