Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Indian Railways has introduced a new ‘Round Trip Package Scheme’ offering up to 20% discount on return tickets, in order to ease festive season rush and ensure maximum utilisation of trains.
The scheme is currently being implemented on an experimental basis.
According to railway officials, passengers will get the benefit if they book both onward and return tickets together with the same name, age, ID proof, and other details on both tickets.
The travel must be in the same class and on the same train pair.
Details about offer
The scheme applies to journeys between October 13 and October 26, with bookings starting August 14.
Return journey dates can be between November 17 and December 1.
Tickets must be booked through the same mode - if the onward ticket is booked online, the return ticket must also be booked online, and the same rule applies to counter bookings.
Who will not get the benefit?
No refund or ticket modification is allowed under this scheme.
Trains with flexi fare are not included.
Railway passes, vouchers, or other concessions will not apply.
The discount is valid only on the base fare and for confirmed tickets.
Railways believes this scheme will not only make travel cheaper but also reduce the problem of ticket availability during festivals.
