Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Jabalpur police conducted a raid and caught a man storing 41 boxes of illegal country-made liquor worth ₹1.63 lakh at his home on Thursday.
According to information, the police caught the man in Belkheda area of Jabalpur after receiving a tip-off and seized a large quantity of illegal country-made liquor from a man’s home.
The accused, Jagdev Lodhi, 47, from Kusli village, was caught with 41 boxes of desi sharab worth around ₹1.63 lakh.
According to police sources, Jagdev Lodhi had been storing the liquor at his house to sell it illegally. Acting on information from an informant, the police reached his home and carried out a raid.
During the operation, they found the large stock of liquor and arrested him on the spot.
The Belkheda police registered a case against Jagdev under the Excise Act. They are currently questioning him to gather more details about his illegal liquor network.
Officials also stated that liquor contractors in Jabalpur have become increasingly bold, with many allegedly supplying illegal liquor through local sellers at various locations.
The police are now investigating to find out which liquor contractor provided the large quantity of alcohol to Jagdev Lodhi.
The investigation is still ongoing, and further action is expected as the police continue to crack down on illegal liquor sales in the region.
