Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Gwalior Smart City has achieved remarkable recognition in the latest ICCC Maturity Assessment Framework (IMAF 2.0) rankings, securing the 12th position nationally and topping the list in Madhya Pradesh. In a significant leap, the city jumped 28 spots from its previous 40th rank, now standing among India’s top 15 smart cities.

A standout achievement for Gwalior is clinching the No. 1 rank nationwide in the 'Infrastructure Category', reflecting its advancements in robust urban development. The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), a key initiative under the Smart Cities Mission, has enabled real-time city monitoring and management, contributing to this success.

Municipal Commissioner and CEO-in-charge of Gwalior Smart City, Sangh Priy, highlighted that the IMAF 2.0 assessment evaluates ICCC performance in efficiency, innovation, and governance. "This ranking reflects our progress in technology, team management, and planning, but we aim to improve further in cybersecurity and stakeholder engagement," he said.

Officials credited the achievement to citizen participation, skilled technical teams, and efficient management. With a renewed focus on addressing gaps, Gwalior now aims to break into the *national top 10 smart cities in the next assessment.

Municipal team, NGOs revive old wells and stepwells

Under the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan, Gwalior Municipal Corporation, along with social organisations, conducted a Shramdan (voluntary labour) drive to restore decades-old stepwells (bawadis), wells, and ponds. The initiative aims to conserve rainwater and revive neglected water sources.

Teams from the Muse Foundation and Divine Organisation cleaned stepwells at MLB College (Lalitpur Colony), Nooraganj Kilagate, and Imli Naka (Sikandar Kampoo). They removed garbage, invasive Parthenium grass, and encroachments while raising awareness against plastic pollution.

The campaign, part of the Apna Shahar Apni Dharohar initiative, seeks to preserve heritage structures and promote sustainable water management.
