COVID-19 Cases Rise In Gwalior: 41 Infections In 12 Days, Women & Junior Doctors Among Infected

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Three junior doctors and two patients tested Covid-19 positive at Gwalior’s JayArogya Hospital. 

Gwalior has recorded 41 active Covid-19 cases in the last 12 days. Health officials say that public carelessness is one of the major reasons behind the rise in infections.

On Saturday, tests were conducted on 30 samples at the JayArogya Hospital. Here, 5 people tested positive for COVID-19. Among the five infected, three are junior doctors who got infected while treating patients. 

More about those infected

One of the infected is a 61-year-old woman who recently returned from Jaipur and developed cold, cough, and fever. Doctors advised her to get tested for Covid-19, and she was found positive.

The remaining four patients are between the ages of 22 and 28, and none of them have recent travel history. This has raised concerns about local transmission.

Children aged 13-14 also infected 

In another case, a 41-year-old man from Murar returned from a pilgrimage to Badrinath on June 6 and later tested positive for COVID-19. After he was diagnosed, his wife and two daughters, aged 13 and 14, were also found to be infected.

60% victims are women

According to health department data, 60% of the Covid-19 cases reported recently are women, many of whom have no travel history. This unusual pattern is being looked into by the health department.

Officials also revealed that around 50% of recent COVID-19 cases are among people who have returned from tourist destinations or hill stations. In many cases, they have passed the infection to their family members.

Experts stated that all COVID-positive patients are being closely monitored and have been advised home isolation. Family members showing any symptoms are also being tested.

The health department has urged people to stay cautious and report any symptoms immediately to prevent further spread of the virus.
