Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A large quantity of fake ghee was seized during a raid conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) department in Gwalior on Monday. The raid took place at a factory located in Ranipura on Monday evening.

Officials reported that the factory was manufacturing a product under the name "cooking medium," which was being marketed as ghee.

However, the FDA clarified that the product is not pure ghee but a liquid substance made by blending two to three types of fats. It was being used for cooking purposes, such as preparing vegetables.

Officials have collected samples from the factory and have sent them for testing.

According to information, the factory operators, identified as Sunil Sharma and Sunil Agarwal, had allegedly been producing this product for the past two to three years.

They were also reportedly manufacturing a similar product under the name "Devshree Cooking Medium," which was being supplied to neighboring Uttar Pradesh. Samples from there had also been collected earlier.

Surprisingly, the factory address mentioned on the product’s packaging was listed as Sagar Tal, while the manufacturing was being done in Ranipura.

The FDA has collected samples from the site in the presence of the factory owners.

These samples have been sent to the laboratory for testing. Further investigations will be conducted after the lab results are out.
