Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Police busted a fake currency racket in Jabalpur and arrested 6 people including a BBA student for allegedly printing counterfeit notes. Fake notes worth ₹18 lakh has been seized. The total counterfeit currency printed could run into crores.
According to police reports, the probe began on June 16 after a tip off about a youth, Ravi Dahiya. Dahiya, was spotted near Mandi Madar Tekri cemetery with counterfeits notes.

Police nabbed Dahiya with counterfeit notes of ₹2.94 lakh and during interrogation, discovered a larger racket operating in the area.
Based on Dahiya's information the cops raided a rented house in Yashwant Nagar of Adhartal area on June 17. Following the raid, the kingpin of this racket, identified as Rituraj Vishwakarma was arrested. The police seized colour printer, laptops , paper, some colours and a cutter.
Supply of fake notes in exchange of real money at a 1:3 ratio
36-year-old Rituraj Vishwakarma, resident of Kamti Imliya Gotegaon Narsinghpur, revealed that he had been printing counterfeit currency for the past 8-9 months and supplying fake notes in exchange for real money at a 1:3 ratio.
Other accused identified as Dhiraj Manwani (20) of Dwarka Nagar was a BBA student, Gaurav Tiwari (44) of Brijmohan Nagar ,Santosh Srivastava (55), Ajay Naveria (44) of Binjhiya Tiraha were also took into custody for printing an supplying fake notes. Police seized fake currency worth ₹9 lakh from Ajay Naveria and ₹3 lakh from Satyam Patel.

According to information, the accused used to design fake notes at home with the help of Paint app and Wikipedia on the laptop, then they used to print fake notes with the help of colour printer and supply them in the nearby districts including Jabalpur, Narsinghpur and Mandla. They had sourced a specific kind of paper to make the counterfeit notes appear genuine
Investigations are underway to trace further links, total volume of fake currency printed, and all individuals who received these notes.
