Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The father of the shooting academy student who committed suicide on December 1 has submitted a complaint to Ratibad police on Monday, alleging that his son was subjected to harassment by his seniors and a coach of the academy. The father of the victim claimed that his son was in depression as he was harassed by his seniors over allegations of stealing Rs 40k cash from the car of one of his seniors at the shooting academy in November.

A complaint has been received and further investigations were underway. Further action will be taken following investigations and action will be taken against the accused, police officials said. It is worth mentioning that 17-year-old Yatharth Raghuvanshi was found dead with a bullet injury in his chest at the shooting range lounge on December 1.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 1 Priyanka Shukla said CCTV footages showed Yatharth sitting alone in the sound proof shooting lounge. A while later, Yatharth picked up his sports shotgun and shot himself in the chest by pulling the trigger using his foot’s thumb, she added. Meanwhile, on Monday Yatharth’s father Arun Raghuvanshi and his kin made serious allegations against his seniors and management of the shooting academy.

He gave a written complaint against six seniors of Yatharth and a coach at the academy while demanding an investigation and action against them. ‘Yatharth was continuously harassed by his seniors which forced him to end his life. The seniors were involved in ragging with junior sports persons and subject them to harassment while the management turns a blind eye in a bid to suppress scams going on at the academy’, Yatharth’s uncle Nitin Raghuvanshi said while speaking to media persons on Monday.

‘The seniors of Yatharth were jealous of his outstanding performance and used to harass him continuously’, alleged Yatharth’s uncle Nitin while demanding a thorough investigation into the role of shooting academy management in the case. He further claimed that the cartridges meant for practice at the shooting academy are sold outside, Nitin said. He further alleged that police are delaying an FIR into the case despite nine days of the incident.
