Asian Para Games: Gwalior’s Prachi Wins Gold In Women’s Canoe Event  

Gwalior’s 28-year-old Prachi Yadav, a Tokyo Paralympian, clocked an impressive time of 54.962 seconds to conquer the 500-meter distance.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Prachi Yadav secured gold medal in the Canoe women’s KL2 event at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, on Tuesday.

Gwalior’s 28-year-old Prachi Yadav, a Tokyo Paralympian, clocked an impressive time of 54.962 seconds to conquer the 500-meter distance.

China’s Shanshan Wang bagged the silver medal with a time of 55.674 seconds, and Iran’s Roya Soltani got the bronze with a time of 56.714 seconds.

On Day 1 of the Games, Prachi, paralyzed from the waist down, clinched a silver in VL2 event. This win makes Prachi proud since she is the first gold medalist in the Asian Para Games, after the sport made its debut.

This particular category is designed for athletes who propel themselves with their arms and partial trunk and leg function.  

Manish Kaurav secures bronze Prachi’s husband, Manish Kaurav, also clinched bronze at Asian Para Games.

Manish, also showcased his mettle at the Games, earning a bronze medal in the KL3 event. Manish, 27, who has faced locomotive disorder since birth, clocked an impressive time of 44.605 seconds.
