Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): After a 21-year-old, a first-year B.Tech student allegedly died by suicide in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur under suspicious circumstances.

This time, it’s 18-year-old Priyanshu Tripathi, a first-year B.Tech student at Gyan Ganga Engineering College. He was found hanging in his rented room near Maharishi School in Shastri Nagar.

According to his family, he had been upset ever since his exam results came out on June 4, where he received backlogs in some subjects. Friends said he had become quiet and was avoiding social interactions in the past few days.

His friend Sharad Dwivedi confirmed that Priyanshu had been very silent and isolated lately. However, Priyanshu’s relatives, including his uncle Radheshyam Tripathi and another family member Srinivas Sharma, have raised doubts about the suicide theory.

They believe it could be a planned murder. They pointed out that the body was found hanging just two-and-a-half feet from the ground, with both feet touching the floor. Additionally, one of his teeth was broken, suggesting a possible struggle.

Priyanshu was originally from Nadan Karaundi Dube village in Maihar district. He had recently taken admission in the engineering college and was living in Jabalpur for his studies.

Suicide note recovered

A suicide note was also recovered, where Priyanshu wrote, "We didn’t expect this -  not even our family." This line has added more confusion, and the family has demanded a forensic handwriting test and cyber investigation of his mobile phone to confirm whether the note was really written by Priyanshu.

The family reached the rented house around 10 pm after receiving the news. Police from Tilwara Station also arrived, took possession of the body, and sent it for post-mortem. The body has now been handed over to the family.

ASI P.L. Bansal stated that a case has been registered and investigations have begun. The cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report, suicide note verification, and mobile phone analysis.

Police are currently investigating all possible angles to determine whether this was a suicide or a part of a deeper conspiracy.
