Maruti Suzuki has commenced commercial production at its Kharkhoda plant in Haryana, marking a significant expansion in its manufacturing footprint. Initially, the facility will produce 2.5 lakh vehicles per year, with plans to gradually scale up to an annual capacity of 1 million units. This plant is a key part of the company's strategy to achieve a total production capacity of 4 million units annually by 2030-31. The foundation stone for the Kharkhoda facility was virtually laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2022, and it is expected to play a vital role in strengthening Maruti Suzuki’s production.

Maruti Suzuki’s Kharkhoda facility has started operations with an initial production capacity of 2.5 lakh units per year, focusing on manufacturing the compact SUV Brezza. With the addition of this plant, the company, along with its subsidiary Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited, now has a combined annual production capacity of 2.6 million units. This expansion strengthens Maruti Suzuki’s manufacturing capabilities and reinforces its commitment to meeting the growing demand for passenger vehicles in India.

Maruti Suzuki continues to expand its manufacturing footprint in India, with the Kharkhoda facility joining its existing plants in Manesar and Gurgaon, Haryana, as well as Hansalpur, Gujarat. In addition, the company has announced a Rs 35,000 crore investment to establish a new manufacturing unit in Gujarat, projected to achieve an annual production capacity of 1 million units. However, reports indicate that the land for this facility is yet to be finalized. This expansion aligns with Maruti Suzuki’s strategy to scale up production and meet the growing market demand.

In a significant milestone for the Indian automotive industry, Maruti Suzuki became the first manufacturer in the country to produce 2 million vehicles within a single calendar year by December 2024. This achievement underscores the company's expanding production capacity, with nearly 60% of the total output coming from its plants in Haryana, while the remaining 40% was contributed by its Gujarat facility. The record-breaking production reflects Maruti Suzuki’s efforts to meet the increasing demand in the market.
