Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are set to intensify competition in the electric SUV market with their upcoming models, the e Vitara and the Creta Electric, respectively. Both vehicles offer distinct specifications and features tailored to modern drivers.

Battery and Performance

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is expected to come with battery packs using BYD’s LFP ‘Blade’ cells, offering a maximum range of up to 500 km. It will feature motors producing 142 bhp and 172 bhp, with 192.5 Nm of torque. The vehicle also supports multiple drive modes (Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow) along with one-pedal driving and regenerative braking.

On the other hand, the Hyundai Creta Electric offers two battery pack options: 42 kWh (390 km range) and 51.4 kWh (473 km range, ARAI-certified). The Creta EV’s motors generate 133 bhp and 169 bhp, with a higher torque output of 255 Nm.

Features and Tech

The e Vitara boasts a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, multi-color ambient lighting, and an Infinity by Harman audio system. It also includes panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and an air purification system.

The Creta EV, meanwhile, features a dual-zone climate control system, an in-car payment option, and Level 2 ADAS, which includes adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. It comes with six airbags and a 360-degree camera for safety.

Design and Safety

While exact dimensions of the e Vitara are yet to be revealed, it features LED headlamps, active air vents, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Creta EV, based on the ICE model, has a sealed grille, pixel graphics, and 17-inch aero alloy wheels to enhance aerodynamics.

Both SUVs offer Level 2 ADAS, multiple airbags, 360-degree cameras, and electronic parking brakes with auto-hold. However, the Creta EV gains an edge with its in-car payment feature and higher torque output.

Conclusion

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Hyundai Creta EV both offer compelling features in the electric SUV segment, with the e Vitara focusing on longer range, a powerful motor, and a feature-rich cabin, while the Creta EV provides multiple battery options, advanced ADAS, and higher torque output.

While the e Vitara may appeal to those prioritizing range and in-car luxury, the Creta EV stands out with cutting-edge technology and enhanced safety features. With both SUVs set to launch soon, buyers will have strong options tailored to their driving needs and preferences.
